Machinists prepare and operate a variety of machines (CNC Lathe, Vertical Machining Center, CNC Horizontal Boring Mill, and Manual Horizontal Boring Mill) to produce precision parts and instruments from various metal types (Stainless, Carbon, Aluminum, Cast, Exotics) and configurations (Forging, Bar Stock Weldments, Casting, Plate).
Duties/Responsibilities
All Machines
- Select, set up, remove, and debur all tooling and parts
- Responsible for machining and initial inspection of part being made
- Have a thorough understanding of the speeds and feeds of the machine and how it relates to the material being cut
- Operate overhead cranes to load and unload machine
- Responsible for predefined Preventative Maintenance Tasks
CNC Lathe

Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist the burner operator with loading and unloading materials
- Cut scrap with a hand plasma burner
- Competently set up track, burning, and/or beveling plate with air / electric grinders.
- Weigh and document scrap bins
- Prepare surfaces to be coated by using various methods to remove grease, dirt, or rust (i.e. abrasive blasting, high pressure water washing, or power wire brushing)
- Spray coatings of various solutions onto manufactured products
- Manage chemicals, drying fans, heaters, and treated machine parts
- Operate highly specialized moving equipment to position materials weighing over 20,000lbs
- Supply and distribute products or materials to production areas
- Perform general inspections on materials and finished goods
- Participate in regular safety trainings to stay current on safe procedures and practices
- Build supports, or braces as needed to stabilize objects
